Followup Comment

Followup comments provide a generic mechanism to add questions or comments to tasks or faqs. For example, the completor of a task would typically add a comment describing how the task was completed. Or, if the technician requires clarification, he may reassign the task to the task creator and add the question as a followup comment.

Ideally, all discussions regarding an item should take place in the form of followup comments, rather than private email. This ensures that all task and faq activity is logged in the database, and not in people's private email boxes, where no one can see it.

Followup comments are also used by the system to record activity such as task status changes, task reassignments, or changes to task or faq text fields. Thus, followups contain the complete history of the item ("audit trail" to you process freaks).

Followups are never deleted, unless the item itself is deleted. They cannot be edited either.
