You may elect to restrict visibility of this field by either department or section attribute. This mechanism allows you to make tasks look very different to different classes of users. For example, you could hide the financial aspects of a task to everyone except admin users in the Finance department.

The department to which the custom field belongs.

If the configuration option strict_custom_fields is turned on, then then the custom field will be visible only to users in the department you choose.

If the configuration option strict_custom_fields is turned off, then then the field may be visible to admin and tech users from other departments, depending on the admin/tech settings you select in the other drop-down list.

Select an option to cause the custom field to be visible only to users of belonging to certain types of user sections.

This restriction is subject to departmental restrictions.

For example, if you select "admins", and strict_custom_fields is on, and the selected department is "Operations", then the custom field will only be seen by admins of the Operations department. It will not be seen by admins of the Finance department.

On the other hand, if you select "admins", and strict_custom_fields is off, and the selected department is "Operations", then the custom field will be seen by any admin in any department.
